Mommy, Me & Nature

It's NEVER too early to get your child outside!

Classes will be led by our beloved Judy Gilroy. Judy has just begun her work with the New Canaan Nature Center Preschool and Mommy, Me and Nature programs. She comes to us with years of Early Childhood Education experience. We are excited to share her positive spirit and enthusiasm with your little ones.

Reconnect to your great outdoors

Join us at NCNC and reconnect with your local nature center.

This summer come and enjoy the magic of the midsummer night. Plus, in the spirit of summer fun, we’ll be enjoying some classic field games on the green before it’s completely dark out and then once the night has set in, we’ll do some star gazing and learn about summer constellations!

Eastern Bluebird

Barn Swallow

This summer season; please join us in welcoming the Barn Swallow as our highlighted bird! Not only is it a true Connecticut native, but the Barn Swallow is actually the most widely distributed Swallow species in the world. You can also watch out for them in open fields, parks, and ponds as they zip, swoop, and dive through the air collecting insects. In fact, Barn Swallows are strictly insectivorous, meaning they feed exclusively on bugs.

Please visit the kiosk by our Birds of Prey Exhibit for more information on the Barn Swallow.

Children's Play Garden

COME PLAY in the Children’s Play Garden

Come play in the boxwood maze in the Children’s Play Garden, courtesy of Secret Gardens Tour sponsor, Elise Landscapes & Nursery.

This garden and interactive play space represents the vision, creativity and generosity of so many individuals. Sensory garden beds, a turtle nesting pit and eagle's nest, the sun story circle and the active play area and climbing structures are designed to build a love and respect for nature among many generations to come. COME PLAY!
