Families in
Nature Club

Join us for the 2nd year of the Nature Center's Families in Nature Club!

You're invited to be part of the Nature Center's one-of-a-kind venture designed to help YOUR family stay connected to nature all year long.

One of the best ways to experience nature is through hands-on exploration. Let our Naturalists lead your family on great adventures and together, who knows what we will discover! Each month, your family will get a NEW self-guided nature challenge which will include "art in nature" crafts, backyard flora & fauna counts and stewardship projects. Click here to find out more about the Families in Nature Club and get the schedule.

Join us for our Kickoff BBQ,

Halloween
Spooktacular

Get into the Halloween spirit by joining us for this spooktacular celebration, NCNC-style. We’ll learn about and meet some creepy critters who remind us of All Hallows Eve (spiders, bats, snakes, and more), before getting the chance to make our very own slime. We’ll wrap up the evening beside a roaring campfire (whilst enjoying a roasted marshmallow or two!). Costumes encouraged and welcome!

This program is perfect for ALL ages and ALL members of the family. This is not a drop off program – all children must be accompanied by an adult.

NCNC Members $7 per person/ Non-Members $10 Spaces are limited and advanced registration recommended.
Call (203)-966-9577 x10 to reserve your spot today!

Wildlife Watch

Common Snapping Turtle

Did you know that one of Connecticut’s most prehistoric reptiles is lurking in a wetland near you? It’s true!

The Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentine) once walked the Earth with the dinosaurs, having evolved over 40 million years ago! Part of their evolutionary success can be attributed to their adaptability to the changing Northeastern landscape.

Click here to find out more about the Common Snapping Turtle.

Be sure to check out our new "Wildlife Watch" kiosk next to the Sugar Shack for more information.
