EDUCATION DEPARTMENT POSITION:
- Lead Environmental Educator Full time– Immediate Opening
Position Summary:
The New Canaan Nature Center, a community based environmental center and 40-acre sanctuary with forests, fields, ponds and streams, seeks a full time, year-round Lead Environmental Educator. As a member of the Education Team, the Lead Environmental Educator will primarily teach a variety of natural and physical science birthday party themes and provide natural history interpretation and guest services at the Visitor Center. In addition, as needed the environmental educator may teach afterschool, scout and school programs for ages Pre-K through adult on numerous natural and physical science topics, including teaching with live animals and birds of prey. All interested summer camp applicants should download and fill out an official Summer Camp Counselor Application. Saved electronic copies of application are preferred. Completed application forms should be submitted to the Summer Camp Director. You may also include cover letter and resume if you so desire. About the New Canaan Nature Center Summer Camp
Our Summer Camp program aims to get children "unplugged" from electronics and other indoor activities by creating and strengthening the connection of children to nature through sustainable, exciting, hands-on interactions in the out-of-doors. It is our goal to "Leave No Child Inside" over the summer as there exists an entire world of adventure just waiting outside the door. Our Summer Camp serves approximately 1,000 children, ages 3-14, through half-day, full-day, and overnight adventure programs. The goal of camp is to provide quality environmental education experiences, which meet the mission and sustainability policy of the NCNC, within a fun and exciting camp atmosphere.
