Animal Care Intern:
This is an unpaid intern position for a person with a strong desire to gain experience and persue a career in animal care. Intern will learn everything needed to provide quality, professional care for a variety of animals including small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey. Duties include cleaning, feeding, grooming, handling and exercising animals. Intern will help coordinate and support the volunteer staff and will work directly with NCNC's Director of Animal Care. This position is designed to give the intern invaluable hands-on experience learning how to work closely with a variety of animals.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, in good physical condition, able to lift 50 pounds, and have an up to date tetanus shot before the start of the internship. Qualified candidates will have a good sense of humor, be flexible, responsible, and trustworthy. Animal care experience is preferred but not required. Hours are flexibile with a minimum of 15-20 hours per week required. Position runs for four months with the possibility for extension after review process.
