Open House and Parent OrientationGeneral Information Sessions Summer Nature Program Parent Orientation Adventurers and Eco-Rangers Parent Orientation Buddy Camp - NEW!Buddy Camp is a fun way for children of different ages to attend the same camp session! Siblings, friends, and relatives can attend together, or campers can come alone and make new friends! Buddy Camp will be held during Session 8 only and will partner Finders and Discoverers and Explorers and Trackers in the same group. The Finders/Discoverers camp will run from 9 a.m. -noon only, while the hours for the Explorers/Trackers Buddy Camp will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Before and After CareFor the busy parent, extended care is offered between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., for an additional fee of $10 per child per hour. During this time, campers may participate in their choice of supervised, unstructured activities. Before and After Care are only offered in one hour increments. Parents will be charged for After Care if more than 15 minutes late for camper pickup. Discoverers attending 9 a.m.-3 p.m. sessions are not eligible for After Care. This service is only offered for sessions 3 - 7. Nurturing NatureExplore the wonders of summer at the Nature Center with your young
child! This program introduces children ages 2 and 3 to the delights
of nature at a hands-on level. We will share walks, crafts, visits
with live animals, songs and stories, all in an unhurried atmosphere.
SUMMER NATURE PROGRAMOur fun-filled nature camp for ages 3 - grade 4 allows campers to spend the day exploring the Nature Center’s 40-acre outdoor classroom as they travel along the trails, investigate life around our ponds, and get eyeball-to-eyeball with live critters from our collection of more than 45 teaching animals. Our Summer Camp staff are college-educated men and women who have experience working with children and have a genuine enthusiasm for children and nature. New Canaan Nature Center’s experienced environmental educators lead each camp with the aid of high school-age Teacher Naturalists in Training. Our Summer Nature Camp ratio of counselors to campers is 1:8 to ensure that each camper enjoys a quality educational experience which is both personal and fun. > Finders - Age 3 SUMMER ADVENTURE CAMPSFor campers entering grades 4 through 11 - Eco-Rangers will have campers exploring the best of regional waterways, forests and hills as they hike, bike, swim and more for five fun-filled days per session! Each of our Adventurers programs are 5 days and 4 nights of exciting adventures throughout eastern rivers and coasts. Our staff are professional educators, trained in basic and wilderness first aid and CPR, who have numerous years experience working with children and leading trips throughout the United States. At least one certified lifeguard and certified canoe staff accompany each trip. Our trips have a maximum staff to camper ratio of 1:7 to ensure a safe, exciting once-in-a-lifetime experience! |
