Teacher Naturalist in Training (TNT)Looking for an exciting and educational way to go beyond being just a camper? Want to help strengthen your résumé? Become a Teacher-Naturalist in Training (TNT) at the New Canaan Nature Center. TNTs shadow and assist our experienced Camp Counselors with a variety of activities while gaining valuable skills in a dynamic and energetic nature camp setting. TNTs help bridge the gap between campers and counselors and play an indispensable role by bringing their unique teen energy to camp. Many TNTs who excel in their position and enjoy the experience go on to become Camp Counselors once they are 18! Do you have what it takes to be TNT? Qualifications:
What Do TNTs Do?
Committment:TNTs are required to commit to at least one 2-week long session. TNTs are expected to be at camp each day from 8:30am - 3:45pm (Mon-Thurs) and until 4:15pm on Fridays.Cost:There is a one-time $75 fee for each TNT, regardless of the number of sessions. The fee is due on acceptance into the TNT program and helps cover the cost of training, uniform (T-shirt) and program supplies.Interactive Workshop & Training Session:All TNT applicants (even past TNTs) should plan to attend an Interactive Workshop on May 26th, 2010 as part of the next step to becoming a TNT for Summer 2010. Upon accepting a TNT position, all TNTs are required to attend an informative training session at NCNC during the second week of June.TNT Timeline:February 15 – May 15: NCNC accepting TNT applications for 2010May 26: Interactive Workshop for TNT applicants (3:00 – 4:30 or 6:00 – 7:30) June 1 – 4: Acceptance notifications sent to all accepted TNT applicants June 21 - 25: TNT training sessions (exact times to be scheduled upon acceptance into TNT) Application:Click here to download the application. |
