Teacher Naturalist in Training (TNT)Would you like to be a Teacher Naturalist in Training (TNT) for the Summer Nature Program at the New Canaan Nature Center? TNTs assist the Summer Teacher/Naturalists with everyday classroom responsibilities. Qualifications: Minimum of 14 years of age, enjoy working
with children aged 3-10 You will be assisting with classroom control, reinforcing rules, and engaging the campers in concept-related planned activities. You will also be serving as support staff so that teachers can continue with the flow of teaching: bathroom runs, gathering forgotten supplies, and help set-up/clean-up. Teachers and directors may give more responsibility based on your interests, ability to grab children's attention, and your readiness for it. You may be asked to read stories, facilitate games, or coordinate other outside activities. There is a $75 materials fee for this program. Training Session: Upon accepting a TNT position, an informative training session will be offered. Please plan to attend 1 training session prior to starting at NCNC. Camp Programs and Sessions: Finders: Finders is for 3-year-olds with camp sessions running 9 a.m. - noon. Sessions run for 1 - 2 weeks from June 2 - August 27. Discoverers: Discoverers is for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds. Camp sessions run 9 a.m. – noon or 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sessions run for 1 - 2 weeks from June 2 - August 27. Explorers: Explorers is for children in 1st and 2nd grades. Camp sessions run 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sessions run for 1- 2 weeks from June 23 -August 27.
