A self-taught craftsman, Mr. Sessions seeks out the knots, grains, crotches and burrows that render most pieces of timber unusable, turning them into elaborate pieces of art. These imperfections are what make his artwork unique: a knot becomes the focal point of a platter; a decaying piece of maple turns into a bowl laced by delicate patterns of black. Adamant his work never becomes anything more than a hobby, Mr. Sessions has graciously donated or given away the majority of his pieces. The sale of these items will directly support the New Canaan Nature Center.

A passionate knitter, Kristin's organic cotton and bamboo winter hats are exquisitely soft and are a delight to the touch and a cozy, stylish addition to your wardrobe. Kristin produces a small line of handmade and all natural products called Kristin’s Crafts. All products are produced with materials that do not off-gas such as “Berant’s all natural yarns, with soy dye”.

Proceeds from the Nature Gift Shop support the Nature Center's mission and future programming. New Canaan Nature Center members enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases $10 and over. Working outdoors in the woods of Michigan or from his workshop at home in New Canaan, Bill Sessions’s passion for his craft is evident in the results of his work. A hobby he picked up after retirement, he has practiced the art of woodturning for over 20 years. A form of woodworking, woodturning involves spinning wood on a lathe and shaping it using various tools.
